Social Interaction
Language is social and interactive. Two people who want to learn each other’s language can play New Amigos, and have fun without even knowing a word of the other’s language to begin with. They are of obvious value to each other as both learn a language directly from a native speaker. Moreover, when people are of value to each other they easily become New Friends. Hence the name of the game.
You can play and learn face to face with a native speaker, or with family and friends who want to learn the same foreign language as you. No teacher is needed, as easy to read phonetics will help you with pronunciation. The app even has all content read out by native speakers on pre-recorded video files.
Methodology
There is a hierarchy of importance in language learning, if you start with the most important words first, you will
quickly be able to hold a conversation and gain self-confidence. Later, you can focus on improving grammar and pronunciation. In language learning we all experience a huge span of growth, from zero knowledge – to holding our own in conversation. During this progression is where so many people lose motivation and drop out.
Therefore, it is important to cross this bridge as quickly as possible. We start at the final destination of other
language tuition: in conversation. The game is based on repetition, which makes it possible to learn any language without any prerequisites. By consistently repeating the text you hear in your chosen foreign language, you become accustomed to hearing your own voice speaking in that foreign language right from the start. The game progresses systematically through the most frequently used words and sentences from everyday conversation, so you can take part in conversation right away.
